Minutes show BoE split 3 ways on rates

The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee was split three ways on this month's decision to keep interest rates at 4.5 percent, minutes released on Wednesday 17 May showed.

The minutes of the May 3-4 meeting showed 6 of 8 MPC members present wanted to keep interest rates unchanged for the ninth month running, while David Walton wanted to raise rates a quarter percentage point and Stephen Nickell voted for a cut.
