Euro Parliament approves Papademos' appointment

FRANCE - The European Parliament has approved the nomination of Lucas Papademos, the governor of the Central Bank of Greece, as vice-president at the Central European Bank.

He succeeds the Frenchman Christian Noyer whose mandate ends at the end of May.

MEPs approved Council's nomination for Vice-President of the European Central Bank, Lucas Papademos, to succeed Christian Noyer who steps down at the end of May. Voting by secret ballot was 425 in favour, 24 against and 67 abstentions.
