Hungary's Draskovics to propose 2010 euro entry

Finance minister Tibor Draskovics has said he will recommend to the government that Hungary set 2010 as the target date for introducing the euro.

"I will propose that the euro be introduced in 2010, but the decision lies with the government," the minister said at a business forum in Kecskemet, MTI reported.

"Today it seems safer to set a 2010 date, but if economic growth is faster than anticipated, then euro introduction could already take place in 2009," Draskovics said.
