Brazilian bank chief's warning

BRAZIL - Arminio Fraga, president of Brazil's central bank, said yesterday that he was worried by "a certain lack of coherence" in the economic programmes offered by candidates for the October presidential election.

"It is common in campaigns for candidates to promise everything, to be upbeat and give the impression that it is all viable immediately," Mr Fraga said on Globo TV. "But unfortunately, this is not true."
