Trade Union leader appointed to BOE's Court

U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown appointed Brendan Barber, the nation's top trade union leader, to replace a consumer advocate on the board governing the Bank of England.
Barber, who heads the Trades Union Congress, replaces Sheila McKechnie, head of the Consumers Association, for three years beginning on June 1
