IMF Koehler urges ECB to cut interest rates

EUROPE - International Monetary Fund Managing Director Horst Koehler called on the European Central Bank on Apr 2, 2001 to cut interest rates in order to help a slowing euro-zone economy.

"An interest rate cut by the ECB would be definitely helpful for the European economy - but at least as important is that Europe moves ahead more ambitiously with its reforms," Koehler told the German parliament in remarks on the global economy.
