Bank of Japan names new executive director

Nobuo Inaba, director-general of the Bank of Japan's Bank Examination and Surveillance Department, will be promoted to executive director, replacing outgoing Takahiro Mitani, bank officials said on Saturday 8 May.

Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki was due to make the appointment official last Tuesday.

Inaba, 53, a graduate of the University of Tokyo, joined the central bank in 1974 and took up his current post in June 2002. He had also served as head of the Information System Services Departme
