Fed expected to raise rates despite concerns

The Federal Reserves interest rate setting FOMC gathered on Tuesday 21 September, with the expectation they will raise US interest rates for a third time this year despite lingering signs of economic stress.

Members of the rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee began meeting at 9 a.m. EDT and were expected to announce around 2:15 p.m. EDT, their usual time for revealing such decisions.
