World Bank governance head to step down

Daniel Kaufmann, the director of global programmes and governance at the World Bank, is to take up a post at the Brookings Institution, a Washington, DC-based think tank.

Kaufmann said in a letter to his Bank colleagues that he was leaving at a time when the governance and anticorruption field and movement, was in many respects "in a silent crisis."

"There has been a lack of resolve by many governments and institutions to focus on what really matters, while wasting efforts on sideshows," Kaufm
