Bank of England unveils new note

UK - The Bank of England has unveiled an improved, criminal-proof £5 note featuring a portrait of Elizabeth Fry, the 19th century social reformer.

It could be the last sterling note to be issued, should the Labour administration call and win a referendum on euro entry. The Bank has no plans to issue further notes.

Those forgers who attempt to counterfeit the note and are arrested will have reason to thank Fry.
