France renews onslaught on ECB policy

The French government has resumed its campaign calling for the ECB to cut rates.

Christine Lagarde, France's finance minister, told the newspaper the International Herald Tribune, on Monday: "If we have to choose between high inflation and high growth, or stable inflation and lower growth, I certainly have a preference for temporarily higher inflation and higher growth."

"I hope this view is shared by some of our European partners and communicated to the European Central Bank," she added.
