Trichet says ECB to discuss French no vote

European Central Bank president Jean-Claude Trichet has said the bank's governing council will discuss the implications of France's rejection of the EU constitution at its meeting on Thursday 2 June.

Speaking at a news conference called by the ECB to present the bank's Financial Stability Review, Trichet was asked about his reaction to the result of the French referendum.

"I am absolutely sure that we will overcome, that the Europeans will overcome the present difficulty as they did in the past
