IMF opens Lat Am technical assistance centre

The doors to the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) central American technical assistance centre opened for the first time on Wednesday.

The centre is the seventh set up by the Fund with the objective of training central bankers and economic officials. It is based in Guatemala City at the Central Bank of Guatemala and will serve Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.

Initially, the centre's activities will focus on financial sector
