SA experts - Inflation targeting needs propagation

SOUTH AFRICA - While the Reserve Bank's inflation targeting is an appropriate and essential programme, it still is in need of more public knowledge and communication among the majority of South Africans, a gathering of professionals decided on Friday.

Earlier, central bank governor Tito Mboweni, who hosted the gathering, lambasted some of the state-owned enterprises, such as Spoornet, for raising their fares by up to 60 percent "as if the country has no inflation targets".

Mboweni said the
