New head at Canadian regulator

Jim Flaherty, the Canadian finance minister, has announced the appointment of Julie Dickson as the new head of the country's financial services regulator, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI).

Dickson has been acting Superintendent since the departure of Nick Le Pan, who left the post last autumn five years into a seven-year term to help the Canadian police tighten up its white-collar crime enforcement. Dickson has over 25 years' experience in financial services in
