Philippine bank mulling reserve requirement hike

Philippines - The Philippine Central Bank is considering raising the liquidity reserve requirement of commercial banks, a move that could help damp speculative pressure building on the peso.

"We are looking at this as an option that we may have to introduce if the economy continues to decelerate and our money supply continues to accelerate," central bank Governor Rafael Buenaventura told reporters late 20 July.

He didn't specifically link the measure to the impact it could have on damping
