China: No plan to sell dollar assets, buy oil
The central bank governor also said he does not know of any plan to buy oil using China's foreign exchange reserves, according to the newspaper.
"(China) has no plan to sell off the dollar assets, neither (have I) heard of plan to buy oil using the foreign exchange reserves," the newspaper quoted Zhou as saying.
Citing a source, the newspaper said that the idea of selling off dollars and buying oil with foreign exchange reserves is unrealistic.
Although it is theoretically possible for China to increase its proportion of non-dollar assets, in practice it will be difficult and risky because of the number of stages involved in the process, the source was quoted as saying, without giving details.
