City bankers set for stability role

A team of City of London bankers could support the Bank of England's efforts to foster financial stability, Alistair Darling, the chancellor, said Thursday.

Darling told the UK parliament that he wanted to restructure the Bank "so that one of its core purposes is the maintenance of financial stability" and that this should involve bringing in City financiers.
