S.African central bank says launching MPC review

SOUTH AFRICA - South Africa's central bank said today, 26 July, it was launching a review of the operations of its 14-member monetary policy committee (MPC) which would be completed by the end of September 2001.

The review would be carried out by Professor Philip Mohr of the Department of Economics at the University of South Africa and would first cover the MPC process of the Reserve Bank, then compare it to policy processes in other countries, it said.
