SNB to publish studies to explain forecasts

Swiss National Bank (SNB) chairman Hans Meyer said on Friday the bank intended to publish several studies in the near future which would explain its forecasting activities in some detail.

He said forecasting inflation for the ensuing three years was a difficult undertaking and occasional forecast errors were inevitable. But he said even forecast errors could serve as an indicator for economic developments which require an adjustment of monetary policy.
