Place your bets - Eddie George for ECB president

GERMANY - The governor of the Bank of England may be cautious about joining the euro currency club, but he already stands a slim chance of becoming its next president, according to spread betting firm Financial Spreads.

Only those with an appetite for risk would bet on Eddie George becoming the next chief of the European Central Bank after current head Wim Duisenberg steps down in July 2003, but Financial Spreads has him at 33-1 odds on.
