Statement by IMF's Rato on death of the Pope

Rodrigo de Rato, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), issued a statement on Sunday 3 April on the death of Pope John Paul II.

"We mourn the passing of Pope John Paul II. His leadership of the Catholic Church has inspired countless. His dedication to the interests of the poor and to ending global poverty shall not be forgotten. I join Catholics and non-Catholics worldwide in honoring the legacy of this son of Poland and Bishop of Rome."
