Belgium's Praet calls for transparent selection

Belgian National Bank official Peter Praet, Belgium's unsuccessful candidate for the ECB said Thursday 25 March that the process for selecting members of the ECB's executive board must be made more transparent.

Praet made the comments after the eurozone's 12 finance ministers selected Spaniard Jose Manuel Gonzalez-Paramo for the next vacancy on the ECB board, despite the widespread view that Praet was far better qualified.
