In this lively and clearly written book, professor Kenneth Rogoff argues not for the outright abolition of paper currency (which he would prefer, but thinks probably impracticable), but for its reduction to small denomination notes – and, if possible, replacement even of these by coin. He wants this because, he maintains, cash prevents good men doing good and allows bad men to do harm. His argument for these claims
