Interview: Gill Marcus

Gill Marcus was appointed governor of the South African Reserve Bank in November 2009. She was previously the central bank's first female deputy governor, occupying that position from 1999 to 2004, and she served as South Africa's deputy finance minister for three years prior to that.

From 2007 to 2009, she served as non-executive chairperson of Absa, a banking group, becoming the first woman bank chair in South Africa. She has headed regulatory boards, including South Africa's Financial
