Uncertainty is the only sure thing – BoE’s Lombardelli

Deputy governor says bank will use scenario planning to communicate uncertainty during volatility

A deputy governor of the Bank of England today (November 25) said scenario planning would increasingly underpin the bank’s forecasting as it grappled with increasing uncertainty in the global economy.

“The reality is, things are uncertain,” Clare Lombardelli told the BoE Watchers Conference in London. “So there is no point in us giving a false sense of clarity about what is going on. We have to be clear about the uncertainties as we see them, and what that means for policy.”
