Brief History

The Central Bank of the Swiss Confederation was established in 1907. The bank’s chief function, according to Article 99 of the Federal Constitution and the national bank law, is “to regulate the country’s money circulation, to facilitate payment transactions and to pursue a credit and monetary policy serving the interests of the country as a whole”.
