Pensions and staff morale least likely to constitute staffing challenge

Degree of concern varies by size of central bank

Half of central banks consider employee pensions and staff morale pose no issues for staffing, the Governance Benchmarks 2026 find. 

Respondents graded several factors posing potential challenges to maintaining sufficient staffing on a scale of one to five. One corresponded to “not challenging at all” and five to “severely challenging”.

“Pensions and other benefits” has the lowest average score of 1.9. It comes just behind staff morale, which received an average score of 2.0. Salaries still pose
