Canada suspends involvement in China-based bank

Former official says AIIB is controlled by the Chinese Communist party

The Canadian finance minister announced on June 14 that her government “will immediately halt all government-led activity” at a China-based multilateral lender.

The move follows the resignation of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank’s (AIIB) chief communications officer, who claimed it “is dominated by Communist party members”.
