The development of Covid-19 vaccines in the space of months rather than years was a feat of modern science. But it wasn’t just vaccine developers working at ‘warp speed’ during this period. The crisis set off an intense bout of research among economists to retool models and find ways to track the pandemic’s impact on the economy in near real time.
