US’s Rouse optimistic on inflation outlook

Chief economic adviser says food production can do more to raise supply than in energy industry

Cecilia Rouse, chair of the Council of Economic Advisers to US president Joe Biden, said there were hopeful signs that the US should see inflation start to decline in the months ahead.

The economist argued that the US economy entered 2022 in a stronger position than its peer countries. “We had what I would consider a buffer,” she said.
