Christine Lagarde unveils new lending facility

Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, has said “it is far too early to debate” ending the Pandemic Emergency Purchase Programme (PEPP).

“I am not suggesting that the pandemic emergency purchase programme is going to stop on March 31,” she said in an interview with Politico published today (June 14). She did say that the ECB expects the European economy to attain pre-pandemic GDP levels in the first quarter of 2022.
