Brazilian opposition and prosecutor challenge central bank law

Brazil’s prosecutor-general told the country’s supreme court on April 28 that lawmakers did not follow constitutional procedure when it passed a recent central bank law.

Augusto Aras issued his opinion as part of a lawsuit filed against the law by two opposition parties, including one led by a former president. It is not clear whether his intervention will lead to the law being overturned.
