Lithuanian central bank mulls fintech sandbox

Regulator says it may suspend some regulations on a “case by case” basis

Lithuania’s central bank has opened a consultation process on whether it should create a regulatory “sandbox” for financial technology firms, it announced on August 7.

The consultation will last until September 30, a Bank of Lithuania spokesman said in an email. The Bank of Lithuania issued a statement arguing that its regulatory regime was already one of the most favourable to fintech firms in the European Union.
