Carstens agrees to stay at Bank of Mexico until December

Following meeting with Mexican president and finance minister, Carstens will lead bank until December

The governor of the Bank of Mexico has agreed to stay on at the central bank for an extended period of time before moving to the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the bank announced today (February 21).

In a meeting held earlier this week with president Enrique Peña Nieto and finance minister Luis Videgaray, Agustín Carstens was asked to remain at the helm of the central bank for several more months, given the uncertain international and domestic economic environment.
