BoJ and ECB collaborate on distributed ledger tech

Project will examine the possibility of running central bank infrastructure platforms in a DL environment

The European Central Bank (ECB) and the Bank of Japan (BoJ) have launched a joint research project to study the possibility of running central bank market infrastructure platforms in a distributed ledger (DL) environment.

"The Directorate General Market Infrastructure and Payments of the ECB and the Payment and Settlement Systems Department of the BoJ have agreed to launch a joint research project," says a December 7 statement by the BoJ.
