Turkmen central bank chief replaced with former deputy

turkmenistan

The Central Bank of Turkmenistan's chairman has been sacked for unspecified "shortcomings" in his work, according to a government website, and replaced with one of his former deputies.

Tuvakmammet Japarov was appointed in July 2011, making him one of the central bank's longest-serving chiefs in recent years. He will be replaced by Gochmurat Muradov who, until today, was the head of a state-owned commercial bank. Muradov also served as deputy chairman of the central bank between 2008 and 2012.
