Libyan factions agree compromise over central bank leadership

UN mission mediated talks after former governor fled

Rival political factions in Libya have reached a compromise on appointing new leadership to the central bank, the United Nations mission said on September 25.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said it mediated talks between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, leading to this compromise after former governor Sadiq al-Kabir fled the country late last month.

The two parties agreed on the procedures, criteria and the timelines for appointing a new governor
