Bank Indonesia keeps rates unchanged

Central bank sees room for cuts in fourth quarter, governor says

Bank Indonesia (BI) today (August 21) held its key interest rates, stressing its focus on stabilising the rupiah.

In a widely expected decision, the central bank kept the benchmark seven-day reverse repurchase rate at 6.25%, a level that has been unchanged since April.

It also kept its overnight deposit and lending rates at 5.5% and 7%, respectively.

In a statement, BI said its decision remained consistent with its goals to further stabilise the rupiah and keep inflation within its target band of 1
