HKMA publishes sustainable finance taxonomy

Hong Kong extends scope of green bond subsidy and develops climate risk assessment tool

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has published a new green finance taxonomy to help assess the environmental impact of financial instruments. 

The HKMA also announced it would expand a subsidy for issuing green financial instruments and work on a climate risk assessment tool for banks.

It published the finalised taxonomy on May 3, after gathering feedback on a prototype in May last year. The Hong Kong Taxonomy covers 12 economic activities in four sectors: power generation, transportation
