Argentine candidate promises TV exposé of ‘empty’ BCRA vaults

Bullrich says currency controls “are eating the reserves”

A potential candidate in Argentina’s presidential elections said she would take a TV crew into the central bank to expose how depleted the international reserves are.

“The first thing we are going to do is to go into the central bank with a television camera,” Patricia Bullrich told television network La Nación+.

Bullrich said restrictions on foreign currency – called el cepo, or “the clamp” - “are eating the reserves”, and stated “there are no more reserves, there are negative reserves”.
