Deputy governor to replace Philip Lowe in September, as central bank prepares for reforms

Michele Bullock has been announced as the next governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), making her the first woman to lead the central bank.

The government decided not to give a second term to Philip Lowe, who has headed the RBA since 2016. Bullock, the RBA’s current deputy governor, will begin her seven-year term from September 18.
