Georgieva says $100 billion in SDRs donated

IMF chief says 2021 goal reached, but critics note Congress has not approved US pledge

International Monetary Fund managing director Kristalina Georgieva says member states have pledged $100 billion in special drawing rights (SDRs) for lower-income countries, meeting a 2021 target set by the Group of Twenty.

Georgieva made the announcement at the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact in Paris on June 22. The conference, hosted by the French government, examined ways to support “vulnerable countries” in the face of escalating global crises.
