Eli Remolona, a veteran central banker and economist, has been appointed next governor of the Central Bank of the Philippines (BSP).

Remolona, who is a member of the BSP’s seven-member monetary board, will serve a six-year term from July 3, the Presidential Communications Office announced in a statement on June 23.

The incoming governor will replace Felipe Medalla, who took up the top post last July to complete Benjamin Diokno’s unfinished term. Diokno had been appointed finance minister.
