Currency round-up: India withdraws 2,000-rupee note

India: The Reserve Bank of India announced on May 19 that it was withdrawing the 2,000 rupee ($24) banknote from circulation.

In its release, the RBI described the notes as a temporary measure. They were issued following the demonetisation of the 500- and 1,000-rupee notes undertaken at the end of 2016.
