Banknotes: RBA consults over putting King Charles on currency

Australia: Reserve Bank of Australia governor Philip Lowe said on November 1 that the RBA is “consulting with the Australian government” about whether to put King Charles III on the A$5 note. These notes currently feature the late Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8.

At a speech in Hobart, Lowe called the portrait “an issue that is of national interest”, and noted that the monarch was featured on all banknotes until 1953. The governor did not say when the RBA and the government might
