Orr gets second term as RBNZ governor

Government praises Orr's record, but opposition party says it is “appalled”

Adrian Orr has been appointed to a second five-year term as governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, prompting strong criticism from the government’s opposition.

Finance minister Grant Robertson reappointed Orr on the unanimous recommendation of the central bank’s board. Orr’s second term will begin on March 27.
