Bolivian ex-governor calls opposition audit request ‘nonsense’

Most central bank gold reserves are held outside country, Morales says

A former governor of the Bolivian central bank has criticised a call by 10 opposition politicians to inspect the gold reserves in its vaults.

The legislators sent their request to the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) in late August. The central bank replied on September 1, saying that a formal response had to come from the finance ministry.
