Bank of Canada carries on as truckers protest

Non-essential staff working from home as anti-vaccine demonstrators occupy Canada’s capital

The Bank of Canada reports that ongoing anti-vaccine protests in Ottawa have had no impact on its operations.

A spokesperson for the Canadian central bank told Central Banking that the protest movement, mounted by truckers opposed to a vaccine mandate, “has not affected the bank’s ability to carry out all its functions effectively”.

The demonstrations and associated traffic disruptions have limited access to the central bank’s Wellington Street headquarters, which are near the Canadian
