Omarova ends bid for OCC job

Biden nominee faced Republican charges of radicalism and alienated some Democrats

The US government has withdrawn Saule Omarova’s nomination to the Office of Comptroller of the Currency, at her request.

In a December 7 statement, US president Joe Biden said that “Saule would have brought invaluable insight and perspective to our important work on behalf of the American people”. He complained that she “was subjected to inappropriate personal attacks that were far beyond the pale”.
